The Playing Field

New in cinemas this week is the long-awaited Rom-com You, Me and Tuscany – we haven't reviewed the film yet, but we highly suggest you go and support the two leads, Halle Bailey and Rege-Jean Page, as they're helming one of the rare Black-led Rom-coms.

We can't speak to Super Mario, Hoppers, or The Magic Faraway Tree, but Project Hail Mary, The Drama and Undertone are still going strong, and you can still watch They Will Kill You, Fuze, and Ready or Not 2.

For the more arthouse amongst you, La Grazia, Father Mother Sister Brother, The Stranger, and the 25th anniversary of Amelie are all in cinemas.

A release unique to the UK this week is California Schemin', which is James McAvoy's directorial debut, and a really fun time at the cinema. We'd also love to encourage you to check out You, Me and Tuscany, even though we haven't seen it yet!

California Schemin’: Lying, scamming, and assorted trickery of the self.
James McAvoy’s Directorial debut doesn’t bother being self-serious -- it’s too busy being honest about deceit.

Alongside this, the magnetic Riz Ahmed stars in Hamlet (as well as the Prime series, BAIT), Faces of Death is getting good buzz, and Exit 8 has been well reviewed by others, too.

Though we can't speak to Super Mario, Project Hail Mary & The Drama are still going strong. For the more arthouse amongst you, there's The Stranger & Forbidden Fruits.

Sight unseen, we're going to recommend you check out You, Me and Tuscany, as it's a rare sight to have two black leads in a rom-com with wide release!

For the more arthouse amongst you, there's Marc by Sophia, Palestine '36, and The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, the latter of which we're dying to see.
