We're in a new Film Essay book — and you can pre-order it now!
Something exciting is happening in May, and two OBSCURAE voices are very much involved!
Art/Film is a new anthology from Film East, bringing together 21 writers to explore the relationship between cinema and the wider world of art — painting, music, theatre, the internet, and beyond. Essays dig into everything from how Severance and Ripley use fine art as narrative devices, to how K-pop concert films build star mythology, to how directors like Robert Eggers and Ari Aster borrow from the stage.
We're incredibly proud that two of our own are featured contributors:
UMNIA — OBSCURAE's Editor-in-Chief — and Frankie Mara, whose work you'll know well from these 'pages'!
The book releases on 11 May 2026, and it's available to pre-order now:
- 📖 Paperback — £15 / $21, available for international shipping
- 💻 Digital download — £9 / $13 (just 40p per essay — genuinely)
