๐ฌ๐ง๐บ๐ธ๐จ๐ฆBox Office Cheat Sheet (17th April 2026)
Our sources for Box Office releases are Google Searches, usually based on one "Chain" cinema and one "Arthouse" cinema, based in a major city of the country we're previewing. If you have any ways we can improve this series, email team@obscurae.co.uk.

The Playing Field
New in cinemas this week is Lee Cronin's The Mummy โ not to be confused with the reboot of the 1999 film โ this is a horror flick! We should have a review of that with you soon.
Another amazing film hitting theatres this weekend in the UK and Ireland is Departures, which we got the chance to cover at BFI Flare last year, and for its release this month; a very good and very gay film.
Going strong are How To Make a Killing, The Drama, Super Mario Galaxy, Hoppers, Project Hail Mary, Fuze, Ready or Not 2, California Schemin', and Undertone, alongside You, Me and Tuscany, which, anecdotally, I've heard is just OK, but worth the ticket.
For the more arthouse amongst you, there's still Father Mother Sister Brother, The Stranger, Rebuilding, Miroirs No. 3, and the Blue Trail.
OBSCURAE Recommends
I'd love everyone in the UK/IE to watch Departures this week, actually! Support Queer Indie Cinema and have a good laugh while you're at it!

Another one opening this weekend is Bob Odenkirk's Normal, from the creators of John Wick and Nobody. It also looks as if Mother Mary is out in the USA, but this may only be a New York thing โ Erupja is now also in cinemas, as well as Mile End Kicks.
Going strong are They will Kill You, The Drama, Reminders of Him, Super Mario Galaxy, Hoppers, Exit 8, Ready or Not 2, Project Hail Mary, and Faces of Death, alongside You, Me and Tuscany, which, anecdotally, I've heard is just OK, but worth the ticket.
For the more arthouse amongst you, there's still Hunting Matthew Nichols, Fantasy Life, Forbidden Fruits, Hamlet (with Riz Ahmed), The Christophers, and The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, the latter of which we're dying to see.
OBSCURAE Recommends
I think we can safely recommend Mile End Kicks this week!
